Emergency Dentist Austin: Urgent Care When Your Child Needs It Most

When a dental emergency strikes, Petite Dental & Orthodontics provides same-day emergency dentist Austin families trust for knocked-out teeth, severe toothaches, facial trauma, and urgent orthodontic issues. Our compassionate team delivers fast, gentle care designed to ease pain and protect your child's smile.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Stay calm — your child will take emotional cues from you. Call our office immediately at (512) 280-2266. Our team will guide you through immediate steps and get your child seen as quickly as possible.

For a knocked-out permanent tooth: Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse if dirty but don't scrub, place it back in the socket if possible or store in milk, and get to our office within 30 minutes.

For a severe toothache: Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress to the cheek, and avoid placing aspirin directly on gums.

For a broken tooth: Save any pieces, rinse the mouth gently, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.

Common Pediatric Dental Emergencies

Children are active — and dental emergencies happen more often than you'd think. We see knocked-out or loose teeth from falls and sports injuries, cracked or fractured teeth, severe toothaches from untreated decay, objects stuck between teeth, cut or bitten lip or tongue, and orthodontic emergencies like broken wires or brackets.

Our team is trained to handle all of these situations with compassion and efficiency. We prioritize emergency appointments and will see your child as quickly as possible.

When to Call for Emergency Dental Care

Call us immediately for knocked-out permanent teeth (time is critical), uncontrolled bleeding from the mouth, severe pain that doesn't respond to over-the-counter medication, facial swelling, or a visible abscess on the gums.

For minor issues that can wait until the next business day — a small chip with no pain, a loose baby tooth that was already ready to come out, or mild sensitivity — call our office during regular hours and we'll schedule a prompt appointment.
