Sedation Dentistry in Austin for Comfortable, Stress-Free Care

Sedation dentistry in Austin helps children with dental anxiety, special needs, or extensive treatment needs receive comfortable, safe care. Petite Dental & Orthodontics offers conscious sedation, IV sedation, and hospital dentistry options tailored to each child's requirements, delivered by board-certified pediatric specialists.

When Is Sedation Dentistry Needed?

Not every child needs sedation, and we never recommend it casually. Sedation may be the right choice when your child has severe dental anxiety that prevents them from receiving necessary care, extensive treatment needs that require long appointments, special needs that make traditional dental visits challenging, or very young age combined with urgent treatment needs.

Dr. Kim Hoang is credentialed in conscious sedation, IV sedation, and hospital dentistry — ensuring your child receives the safest, most appropriate level of sedation for their specific situation.

Types of Sedation We Offer

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) — The mildest form of sedation. Your child breathes through a small mask and feels relaxed and comfortable while remaining awake and responsive. Effects wear off within minutes.

Conscious Sedation — Oral medication helps your child reach a deeper state of relaxation while still maintaining protective reflexes. They'll be drowsy but responsive to verbal cues.

IV Sedation — Administered by Dr. Hoang with advanced training, IV sedation provides a deeper level of sedation for children who need more extensive work or have significant anxiety.

Hospital Dentistry — For the most complex cases, we can arrange treatment at a hospital setting where your child receives general anesthesia under the care of a full medical team.

Is Sedation Dentistry Safe for My Child?

Safety is our absolute priority. Our sedation protocols follow guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Before any sedation appointment, we review your child's complete medical history, provide detailed pre-sedation instructions, monitor vital signs continuously throughout the procedure, and keep your child under observation until they're fully recovered.

Dr. Hoang's board certification and hospital privileges mean she has met the highest standards of training and competency in pediatric sedation.
